Complete Mortality Tables - 2006
In accordance with Article 2, from the Presidential Decree 3266 of November, 29, 1999, IBGE has been published, annually, the Complete Mortality Tables, relative to the previous year, on the first working day of December each year.
Mortality Table 2006 is an estimate based on the mortality rates calculated for the years 1980, 1991 and 2000, which resulted from a long discussion during a workshop featuring technicians of the Department of Population and Social Indicators (COPIS/DPE/IBGE) and of the Centro Latinoamericano y Caribeño de Demografía (CELADE/CEPAL/Nações Unidas), carried out from March, 24 to 28, 2003, in Santiago, Chile.
The Mortality Table calculated for year 2000 includes the population data from Demographic Census 2000, the infant mortality rate based on the information from the same Census and the death statistics from the Civil Register relative to the three-year period, 1999 - 2001.
