Demographic Trends: an analysis of the Demographic Census 2000 sample results
It presents indicators based on the results of Demographic Census 2000 and encompasses data about the overall characteristics of the Brazilian population, such as color or race, religions and physical or mental disability and aspects related to other themes, such as Education, Migration, Moving, Marriage Rates, Fertility Rates, Infant Mortality, labor and Income, Families and Households .
The demographic, social and economic indicators released refer to the 5 507 municipalities existing on August 1, 2000, which, for better analyses, are classified into groups according to rates of population growth in the period 1991/2000. The objective, in this case, is to measure the demographic dynamics of the Brazilian geographic space. The analytical comments include, whenever possible, a retrospective comparison of results for Brazil , its Major Regions and Federative Units, and also highlight the changes observed since the latest censuses.
This group of indicators is also available in the CD ROM which comes enclosed with the publication.
This publication is a valuable source for researchers of the Brazilian demographic situation.
