Extended National Consumer Price Index-15 - IPCA-15


The National System of Consumer Price Indexes - SNIPC continuously and systematically produces consumer price indexes, having as collection units commercial and service-offering establishments, public service concessionaries and households (for the surveying of rent and condominium fees).


Since May 2000, the Extended National Consumer Price Index- 15 has been available on the Internet - IPCA-15, whose data collection period goes approximately from the 15th day of the previous month to the 15th of the month of reference.


The target population of IPCA-15 includes families with monthly income, from any source, ranging from 1 (one) to 40 (forty) minimum wages and dwelling in the urban localities of the areas.


The National Consumer Price Index - INPC, the Extended National Consumer Price Index- IPCA and indexes with specific objectives are also produced, as it is currently the case of the Special Extended National Consumer Price Index- IPCA-E. The IPCA-E, which is published on a quarterly basis, uses the monthly data of the IPCA-15.


Other indexes were released in the following periods: Consumer Price Index - IPC (March 1986 through February 1991); Fiscal Values Readjustment Index - IRVF (June 1990 through January 1991); Basic Products Basket Index - ICB (August 1990 through January 1991); Minimum Wage Readjustment Index - IRSM (January 1992 through June 1994); Special National Consumer Price Index - INPC-E (November 1992 through June 1994); r series Consumer Price Index - IPC-r (July 1994 through June 1995).


The publication of IPCA-15 was started in 2000.

Geographic Coverage: Metropolitan areas of Belém, Fortaleza, Recife, Salvador, Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Curitiba and Porto Alegre, Brasília and the municipality of Goiânia.
