Industrial Survey - Enterprise 2005

This publication presents financial- economic information which allow estimate the basic structural characteristics of the enterprise segment of the industrial activity in the Country, as well as to follow-up its evolution along the time.

It includes, among other aspects, data about employed persons, salaries, withdrawals and other compensations, revenues, costs and expenses, and production and industrial manufacturing value. Commentaries which are also included focus on the general results obtained by the survey highlighting in detail, the more relevant sectorial and spatial changes of the Brazilian industry between 1996 and 2005. An index of structural change was used for this work and, considering the variables employed persons and value of industrial transformation, the industrial groups and the Brazilian regions which most contributed for the main changes observed in this period were identified.

The publication includes, also, technical notes about the methodological aspects of the survey and annexes containing the National Classification of Economic Activities referent to the industry. The CD-ROM enclosed in the publication contains, besides the information of the printed volume, the tabular plan with updated data for each year, from 1996 to 2004 and a group of tables for the enterprises with more than 30 employed persons since 1996, increasing hence, the possibilities of exploration of the survey’s database.

The data contained in the publication constitutes the most complete source of statistics about the productive structure of the industrial sector in Brazil, and provides to the government and private departments, information for planning and decision-making, and to general users, information for broader sectorial studies.
