Annual Survey of Construction Industry - 2006

This publication gathers a group of economic and financial information which allow the estimation of the basic structural characteristics of the construction sector in the country, at the same time it monitors the evolution of this same segment in time.

It presents, among other aspects, data relative to employed persons, salaries, costs and expenses, revenues and value of construction services performed. The analysis, focused on big construction companies, with at least 250 employed persons, is divided into three section: the first one, about overall universe results of the survey; the second section highlights, based on selected indicators, the importance of big companies and their participation in the business structure of the 1996's, 2000 and 2006; the last section deals with the offer of companies of this sector, by groups of products and size of companies.

The publication also includes technical notes about methodological aspects of the survey and annexes containing the National Classification of Economic Activities relative to construction industry. The CD-ROM enclosed with the publication contains, besides the information of the printed volume, the updated tabular plan for the years 2003 and 2004, increasing, therefore the possibilities for exploration of results.

These data are also available on the IBGE web site.

The results presented herein constitute an important source of statistics about the structure of this kind of activity, providing material for public and private planning, the academic community and society as a whole.
