Statistics of the Central Register of Enterprises 2005
IBGE’s Central Register of Enterprises – CEMPRE – is an important group of data about Brazil’s economic activity. It gathers information relative to registers and to the economy which is obtained from annual surveys of the institute in the fields of Industry, Construction, Trade and Services and from the Annual List of Social Information – RAIS, of the Ministry of Labor and Employment.
This publication presents these results, organized by levels of the National Classification of Economic Activities - CNAE 1.0 and by Major Regions, Federative Units and capitals. The results encompass information about employed persons and salaries paid in companies, in public administration organizations and in non-profit institutions which were part of the Register in 2005, besides indicators of diversification and concentration for Industry, Trade and Services.
The analysis of results for the country focuses on the structure of companies and other organizations, according to: their juridical status, in 2005; the structure of employed persons and of their salaries and other compensation, according to their juridical status, between years 2004 and 2005; the size of companies and the volume of salaries paid, considering, respectively, the number of persons employed on December 31, 2005 and the sum of salaries and other compensation paid throughout the year, among other data. The index of structural change was used for the first time, allowing the identification of the economic activities which most contributed to the sector changes in the segment of enterprises and other Brazilian organizations in the period 2000/2005, and having as variables employed persons and salaries. The regional analysis includes the variables of number of local units, employed persons and salaries and other compensation, based on the presence of local units of companies and other active organizations in the areas bordered by the North, Northeast and Southeast – being the latter subdivided into the state of São Paulo and other states of the Region – South and Central West Regions.
The publication also includes technical notes and a glossary with the terms and concepts used. The CD-ROM which comes enclosed with the publication presents, besides the information in this publication, selected tables by Major Regions, Federative Units and for the group of Brazilian municipalities, especially those of capitals and, also, grouped at other levels of CNAE 1.0.
